The Kraken
Deep Ocean (off-island coordinates)
The defining naval boss and the apex structural threat of the deep ocean. The Kraken does not attack players directly on its first three phases - it attacks the raft's hull grid, threatening to sink the entire base if it isn't intercepted. The encounter has a hard rule: do not enter the water column. The Kraken's dual-threat aggro system will instantly retarget and execute any swimming player.

Spawn trigger
Sustained presence in deep-ocean coordinates away from island shallows. The encounter dynamically triggers when the player's raft exceeds a depth threshold for an extended duration, or after a procedural deep-water event pulse.
Combat phases
- Phase 1 - Surface Tentacles: 2 tentacles surface; sever each with mounted ballistics or Titanium Sword
- Phase 2 - Hull Rake: a third tentacle sweeps the raft's structural grid, dealing mass hull damage
- Phase 3 - Below-Water Constrict: the raft shakes; all immobile structures take heavy integrity damage
- Phase 4 - Apex Emerge: the Kraken surfaces; melee and ranged converge on the head hitbox

Combat tips
- Pre-build mounted ballistics before you sail into deep coordinates. A Musket alone will not clear the encounter in time.
- Hull plating is more important than raw DPS. Patch grid damage between tentacle phases.
- Never enter the water. The aggro flip is instantaneous and instant-kill.
- Bring at least 2 companions to handle the secondary tentacles while you burn the apex head.
- The encounter is procedurally triggered - leaving the depth zone cancels the aggro entirely. Use this as an emergency disengage.
